Sunsets, some of.

HeYO!

Is there such thing as too many pictures of sunsets in one post. If it's possible, then maybe I have managed to break that boundary. Although there could have been way more. Let the sunsets begin!

- Ironically, the first photo is not of a sunset, but of the Botanical Gardens in Berlin. L-O-L...check out that architectural symmetry invaded by living and breathing cacti. CACTI! Maybe I should rename this Post.

- Our first sunset situation. In dem Botanicals. Somehow, the way I caught the sun on this photo really irritates me. Alas. What can one do, such is life...nature is unpredictable. Looking at this photo again...THIS PHOTO IS ALL bent...like not straight at all. That's irritating as well. But I'm not taking it out. This is one for getting angry.

- A crow taking off and its bros chilling on the poles. As you do on a Sunday morning.

- Some fast moving sunset action from the Sbahn window.

- A sunset performance for all the people that were looking out of their hospital window. Well done, sun!

- By far, my most favourite sun capture. Out my window. Look at those beams. YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE SUN BEAMS!!  I can't believe the sun got so naked with me that day, and from behind a church! I was like a paparazzi. But seriously, look at those BEAMS! In a way, this has a wild western desert feel. But maybe its just the antler/horn thing on my neighbour's balcony. Once again. Please don't miss dem BEAMS. They're the best! Have I mentioned the BEAMS yet? If not, let me not forget to mention those BEAMING BEAMY BEAMS. (I actually wrote beans the first time...BEANS! What an amateur)

Hope the sun's been beaming for you guys! Let's hope that spring kicks winter in the beams, come on spring. It's been cold far too long.

The forest and the ladybug apocalypse.

It's been a wonderfully outdoorsy weekend!  Lots of walks and really feeling the autumn right now.  Not much has happened with my plants at the moment.  The seasonals are on their way out and my chili pepper plants are just growing along fine.  In fact I have discovered a little pepper on one of my serrano chili plants!  Photos to come soon!  But right now I just want to share some pictures of my weekend.

-  On Saturday, we got on a bus out to East Berlin.  We went to Müggelheim which is where the Müggelsee is.  We walked in an impressive forest, which from the top looks out over one of the lakes.  The day started out really foggy.  It was crisp but not that cold.  The colour pallet of the day was mainly brown, yellow and grey.  It was beautiful.  I know I have been totally overusing the word autumnal, but it was super autumnal.  That's the only way I can describe it.  Here's the view on the way up through the forest.  There is a downhill mountain biking course through it!  There were some guys mountain biking down the course.  They were pretty fast and were jumping off ramps and stuff.  I was impressed.

Once we had made it to the top of the "hill", this was the stunning view we had over the smaller Müggelsee.  (It's called the smaller lake although it is mahoosive!)

-  Sunday, the weather was completely the opposite to the weather on Saturday.  I woke up to the sun shining and a cloudless blue sky!  We went to the Hasenheide, which is a park in Neukölln just across from Templehof.  Over the course of the day it got really warm and people were sitting in the park topless!  Really crazy when you think that it's already the end of October!  There was one thing that was really bizarre about today...there were soooooo many ladybugs flying around EVERYWHERE!  Every minute there was one landing on me after another one had just flown off.  I wonder if this is a common thing for October and that just like there is that one flying ant day, where ALL the flying ants EVER come out, that there is also a flying ladybug day.  I really enjoyed the ladybugs' company though and I managed to take this really cool photo of one about to take flight!

And here is a photo of two ladybugs flying in the blue sky!  It just looks like there are two black dots in the air, but they are ladybugs!  I promise!

-  After the Hasenheide I continued my journey home and popped by the Comenius Garden which was buzzing with people enjoying the sun.  The trees were just über-vibrant and full of colour!

Anyway, it was a perfect day for soaking up some autumn sun.  The paths were covered in crispy orange and yellow leaves and accompanied by the leaf crunching sound of my feet, it was just glorious.

It is HAWT, HAWT, HAWT!!!  Best thing to do when it is this hot in a city is to spend the whole day close to water, and keep those thirsty plants watered.  That's exactly what I have been doing.  Dunking myself into a lake and then going home to water my plants in the evening.  Although they get thirsty, they seem to enjoy the sun and are really shooting up into the air.

-  Here are some shots of my corn.  It really has grown a lot in a short amount of time!

-  My cherry tomato plant now has teeny tiny tomatoes growing from the flowers!  LOOOOK!!!

-  Today I've been finding loads of little black balls everywhere.  They are tiny.  I thought they were some sort of terrible aphid egg that were lying around getting ready to release those terrible bastards upon my plants.  But these little black balls are SEEDS!  Yes, yes, my miner's lettuce is seeding.  I am saving as many of them as I can find.  They are super small.

-  This weekend was Karneval der Kulturen here in Berlin.  And although it is not plant based I definitely want to share a picture I took today whilst wandering around.  A stilt troupe.  This lady was a crane or a stork.  She was sprinkling confetti.  And I love confetti.  One of the other stilt people sat on my shoulder and had a rest.

To finish off, I gotta say that this week hasn't just been brimming with success.  I had to get rid of my monster cucumber plant yesterday.  The reason being...APHIDS.  I know I could have treated the plant in loads of different ways to get rid of the little critters, but I didn't want to risk having an infested plant indoors so close to all my other plants.  I'm ok with having to let go of my one thriving cucumber but I wouldn't be ready to get rid of all my plants because of the mean green eating machines.  I really would love to know how the aphids got here.  I assume it was through one of the plants I was given from a friend's garden.  I have learned my lesson now.
